Dear Sir,

During years and years, I am working about human rights, so well on a national as international level.

I am very shocked by the violations of human rights and the many deaths and suicides in the prisons of Northern Ireland.

Brendan Lillis, a 59 year old former Life-sentence political prisoner from West Belfast, in Ireland, is currently desperately ill in the medical wing of the notorious Maghaberry prison, in County Antrim. He suffers from the intensely painful and progressive disease called Ankylosing Spondylitis which due to other medical complications has left himunable to move from his bed for 14 months and his weight has dropped to a perilous 6 stones (38.1 Kilos !). Due to a series of serious infections and medication which has compromised his immune system, Mr Lillis has been unable to eat, sleep or hold down even liquids for a period close to a month and is constant agony. In short, his health has deteriorated to such an extent that his partner Roisin, who is his only contact with the outside world, fears that he will die in his prison bed!

May I pray you to intervene in this inhuman and tragical case ?

Yours faithfully,

Jan Boeykens

    A Pseudo Justice Committee…

The pseudo Justice Comittee headed by David Ford includes the following Sinn Féin members, Raymond McCartney (Vice Chair) AND committee members Sean Lynch (BOTH of which are former POW’S) & Jennifer McCann…. maybe be worth while lobbying these people as well…

Raymond McCartney, Derry SF, Sean Lynch Fermanagh/South Tyrone SF & Jennifer McCann Belfast Sinn Fein…

They said (one time only) that Brendan Lillis should be released. This was recently, after he had lost half of his body weight through the prison’s medical neglect. They would have to raise hell (make a fuss) with the government, and SF is not going to do that. Their voice was a whisper.

Still they r elected representatives , elected on a Republcian mandate , so therefore the onus is very much on them tod eliver ….ESPECIALLY on issues such as these

ne would think that former POWs would have a soul-Brendan should be released-especially now, but because they refused they should of at the very least give him proper medical care so he could of been properly tried for any crimes that they made up against him….. in my opinion the witch hunt isn’t over- if it’s not Brendan it’ll be someone else i am sure. they want to make these brave men and women examples to shut the people of Ireland up with fear so the rest of the world doesn’t know their dirty little secret- too late! we are made well aware!

One would think SF would have been fighting for Brendan. Brendan was on the blanket for four years with one of them.

Clarification: Blanket men in prison at the same time.

Raymond McCartney & Jennifer McCann are on Facebook…Sean Lynch is not but Fermanagh/ South Tyrone Sinn fein are … have posted this article on Both F/ST & Fermanagh Sinn Fein’s walls http://humanrightsgroup.wordpress.com/2011/07/15/brendan-lillis-is-dying-in-maghaberry-prison-letter-to-david-ford/

Thanks James. We will write about these false representatives who participate in murder. The people have to know that.

It is stinking to political deals.

I am wondering why there is no reaction of the (South) Irish authorities.

I saw that members of the Ministry of Justice in Dublin were talking about human rights in the European Parliament. Where are these people now ?

    About Brendan:
He is in the prison hospital, but I am told it is not like a real hospital. It is a sick bay.

    The politicians…

    Dear Ms F.,

Thank you for your further email. I have this morning spoken to the Northern Ireland Office who have assured me that they have contacted you directly today.

I understand that jurisdiction over Mr Lillis’ case has been devolved to the Northern Ireland Assembly and you will hearing from them directly regarding the situation.

Please be assured that my office will continue to monitor the situation, and will of course keep you updated with any information we receive.

    With best wishes,

From my MPs office, still no acknowledgement from the home office. I recieved a “standard” we are looking into this from . Yvonne McIlroy Private Office Department of JusticeBlock BCastle Buildings Stormont Estate Belfast
Owen Paterson advised that he has no jusidication since the devolution on power in 2010 and that David Ford is the person to contact. May be worth putting the pressure on him still though?
